Our communities consist of the town of Huntingdon, city of McKenzie and the unincorporated areas of Atwood, Bruceton, Clarksburg, Hollow Rock, McLemoresville and Trezevant. HISTORY This area was once Chickasaw Indian Land, the first settlers found beautiful fertile fields and forests. In 1682 the French fur traders made camp in an area we now call Chickasaw Bluffs and as claimed by the French General La Salle for the country of France. Tennessee became a state in 1796 and in 1818 Western Tennessee was acquired by the Jackson Purchase. Carroll County was established by the Tennessee State Legislature on Nov. 7th. 1821. |
